The Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) is offering companies the opportunity to become a partner in a myriad of Authority activities and events. Summer and winter seasons are busy with approximately 880,000 visitors coming through ORDA turnstiles at five venues each year. We can offer you a multitude of opportunities to bring your business to virtually all of them.

The New York State Olympic Regional Development Authority (ORDA) is a product of the legacy of the XIIIth Olympic Winter Games in Lake Placid. Following the 1980 Games, the Olympic Authority was created by the New York State legislature. ORDA assumed the management, operation, and promotion of the Olympic facilities in October of 1982. ORDA also serves as an integral part of on-going efforts to promote tourism in the Adirondack region, bringing events to the region and developing innovative programs such as Sports Development to increase awareness, education and youth participation in sport.

The concept behind ORDA was to create an umbrella organization to efficiently and effectively manage facilities owned by the State of New York – Whiteface Mountain Ski Center in Wilmington and the bobsled, luge, cross country and biathlon facilities of the Olympic Sports Complex (formerly Mt. Van Hoevenberg) – and those owned by the Town of North Elba – the Olympic Center, the Olympic Speed Skating Oval and the Olympic Jumping Complex. Gore Mountain Ski Center in North Creek, N.Y., was added in 1984 along with the United States Olympic Training Center in 1990. The 1932 & 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympic Museum was added in 1994. Presently the Olympic Authority is a division of the Empire State Development Corporation.

The Authority has hosted over 275 major national and international events during its tenure. They have included the Inaugural 2000 Winter Goodwill Games, the ESPN Great Outdoor Games (July, 2000, 2001 and 2002), World Championships in Freestyle Skiing and Bobsledding, and numerous world cups, national championships and international competitions.

Having invested over $55 million in venue improvements during recent years, ORDA continues to provide venues for athletes from around the world. ORDA is constantly looking to expand and improve the training facilities to ensure they continue to be among the best in the world and Lake Placid maintains its recognition as the “Winter Sports Capital of the World.”

The Olympic Regional Development Authority and its partners manage events and competitions with its communications, corporate marketing, planning, events, finance, marketing, sports development and timing/scoring departments.

The ORDA management team provides the following support functions: general administration, event management, finance, personnel, engineering, purchasing, sales and marketing, advertising, corporate marketing and sponsorships, public relations, and computer and information systems.

The Events Department of the Olympic Regional Development Authority is responsible for soliciting international, national and regional sporting events to maximize the use and exposure of the 1980 Olympic Winter venues in Lake Placid.

Beyond management of events and initiation programs, such as Sports Development, which promotes education and participation in Olympic sports, the Authority has significantly expanded and improved its facilities over the years.

As a Miracle Club Partner your organization’s contributions will go to support many of the Olympic Regional Development Authority’s programs and events. From introducing youth to sport through our in-house Sports Development Department to hosting International World Cups and World Championships at our state of the art winter sport venues your financial commitment will assist in continuing the legacy of two Olympic Winter Games.

Bobsled Passenger (Public) Ride Program

Now you can “own” your own sled, be a co-sponsor or an associate sponsor of one of Lake Placid’s oldest and most exciting attractions, the bobsled passenger ride offering a trip down the famed 1980 Olympic track or rocketing down the new combined track. With over 25,000 thrill seekers riding in our passenger program annually this opportunity offers a unique way to communicate your message. You’ll also receive great signage opportunities, tickets and hospitality to the Olympic Sports Complex.

Summer Jumping Series at the Olympic Jumping Complex

Presenting sponsor for one week of Summer Jumping Series – 7 weekly sponsors available. The summer jumping series includes Wet ‘n Wild Wednesdays and Soaring Saturdays. Wet ‘n Wild Wednesdays: On seven Wednesdays in July and August watch and be amazed as athletes from around the world put on an amazing aerial show flipping and twisting into the 750,000 gallon pool. All shows begin at 1:00 pm. Soaring Saturdays:

On seven Saturdays in July and August watch as intrepid nordic flyers from around the globe soar off the 90 meter tower on to the artificial surface for King of the Hill honors. All shows begin at 1:00 pm.

Summer Skating Series at the Lake Placid Olympic Center

Presenting sponsor for one week of Summer Skating Series – 8 weekly sponsors available. Summer Skating Series includes Freaky Friday and Saturday Night Ice Shows. Freaky Friday:

A fun skating competition judged on entertainment value only by local “celebrity” judges held most Friday afternoons at 4:30 p.m. during the summer in the 1932 Jack Shea Arena. Saturday Night Ice Shows:

These highly entertaining Ice Shows are performed most Saturday evenings in the summer at 7:30 p.m. Figure skaters from around the country and the world perform their competitive program, routine or group number under the spot lights in the 1932 Jack Shea Arena
